Airdrop Emergency Kit Design

Winter 2023

This is an in-class group project that I collaborated on with fellow student Madison Melley. The objective of our project was to design an emergency kit specifically tailored to an extreme winter disaster scenario, where infrastructure such as roads, energy, and power may be severely damaged, and resources are scarce. Our goal was to create an instructional packaging solution that could sustain two adults for three days until help arrives.

During the course of the project, I focused primarily on developing a pictogram system and illustration design that could effectively communicate crucial information to the user. Meanwhile, Madison worked on designing the box and laying out the instruction booklet. We collaborated closely throughout the project, brainstorming ideas and working together to find the most functional and effective solution.

The final product we produced was entirely hand-made and featured a range of colors on the boxes and labels. Overall, we are proud of the work we accomplished together and believe that our emergency kit design could make a valuable contribution to disaster relief efforts in extreme winter conditions.
